Namasté!

It is such a profound sentence expressed by one of the greatest spiritual masters of this time that I want to share with you right now. It relates to the absolute sensation deep in our heart; a feeling we’re all are born with. It actually represents everything and everyone – Love.

“Love is the recognition of oneness,
sensing that you share the same consciousness.”
(Eckhart Tolle)

Each of us probably has his or her very unique definition of what love essentially means. As I personally heard Eckhart Tolle speaking about love, describing his perception, these words flew through my body, they literally hit me right inside my heart. I profoundly resonated with what he said: Recognizing the state of oneness with another person, with nature, with everything around you as you sense that you’re sharing the same consciousness. But what does this actually mean?

We often perceive love primarily as a feeling we share with our partner in a romantic relationship. It always shows up as a kind of desire: looking for someone who fills a hole inside us; who fulfills our need for pleasure; we seek for attention, time and physical touch; we’re desperately looking for someone who makes us whole; Thus, there is always a sensation of need, of requiring someone else to feel loved. We’re somehow conditioned to what “love” means. And this condition rises from an egoic state, which is the desire: I want someone or something. Out of this perspective, you see the other one as something separate from yourself; there is this sense of “the otherness”, so there’s a desperate need to obtain this person in order to complete the lonely part within yourself. However, nobody will ever be able to fill this gap as you already ARE complete. That doesn’t mean there is no need of having a relationship. It simply means that the feeling of love can be sensed in a much more profound way. Out of a state of abundance and completeness within yourself. And this sensation is not limited to this one person you are in a romantic relationship with.

Love arises in the natural state of presence when the “other” is no longer seen as another. When the sense of separation, which means to be identified with thoughts, dissolves. This is the point where you start realizing that there is no “other”; when you start realizing that the other person is simply another expression as a human being of the whole consciousness. It is the point when the permanent thoughts of identification, classification, judgments, etc. subside and you start feeling the pure, innate, unconditional essence of the “other”, which resonates with your own.

As Eckhart Tolle further says,

“Love is a state of being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. (…)
In the stillness of your presence, you can feel your own formless and timeless reality
as the unmanifested life that animates your physical form.
You can then feel the same life deep within every other human and every other creature.
You look beyond the veil of form and separation (…)”

Have you ever looked into the eyes of someone else, sensing this feeling that (s)he doesn’t label or judge you at all? But (s)he really sees and touches your soul, simply with his (her) state of presence? That the energy from the two of you unifies and your heart senses a deep feeling of familiarity, trust, and warmness, while it permits itself to open up wide – like a flower in spring does as soon as enough sun shines onto it; because you as a whole being and the other as a whole being recognize your oneness. There are no boundaries, no limitations, no unnecessary expectations, no labeling, no conditions, no separation. This feeling allows you to absorb so much of this energy of pure love; and you start spreading your pure, innate, unconditional love into the outside again, completely naturally and automatically. Everything that is of value in life multiplies when it is given. It is this very moment when you REMEMBER what love really feels like. Simply because the “other” just mirrors and therefore reminds you of what has always been already within you.

You will not only be able to sense this kind of limited pleasure you’re always seeking for which may satisfy your desires for a short period of time, but you will be able to sense blissful joy, this state of profound contentment within you and together with your partner … with your kids, your dog, your garden … simply with everything that is.

What does ‚Love‘ mean to you? Are there some words to describe this beautiful, powerful, deeply intense feeling within? I’d also love to hear your opinion on Eckhart’s approach.

“Your heart is the light of this world.
Don’t let your mind hide it forever.”

Sending you pure love from the bottom of my heart.

Om śānti, śānti, śānti!
Namasté,

yours Isabel!

  1. Liebe Isabel!
