Quote-Spiration #8 | Create your Self

Namasté, my loves …

… and welcome to 2021!

A new year. A new era. A new start. What does the beginning of a New Year mean to you?

A few months ago, my heart guided me towards expressing myself creatively. I felt a spark within myself that started igniting after it had been lain dormant for quite some time.

By tapping into my creativity, I received a precious message that I feel like sharing with you today. Some inspiring nudges and food for thought for the beginning of the New Year 2021. There are no other words that could describe this message more accurate and eloquently than the following quote by Deepak Chopra:

“The most creative act you will ever undertake
is the act of creating yourself.’
(Deepak Chopra)

I personally have always been passionate about the act of creating something. Whether it’s a piece of writing, a drawing, a website, blog posts, pictures, videos, or “simply” a meal. Bringing a non-visible thing -a thought or idea- into the physical realm in order to perceive it with our human senses. When you start looking at life in this way, everything starts becoming magical and a highly fulfilling experience, doesn’t it? 🙂

Creativity …

  • provides freedom.
  • is a way of authentic expression.
  • gives you the opportunity to process emotions.
  • connects you deeper to your heart and your truth.
  • allows you to tap into a state of flow. It allows you to let go of all conditions, thoughts, and beliefs around how something should look like, sound like etc.

This article is not about becoming or being an artist or anything like that. It is about the innate ability that we were all gifted with. It is the one thing that we came here for: Unleash everything that is not in alignment with the truth of who we are. Remember the core of our being. Bring this version of our Selves into the physical. Express and truly embody all aspects of ourselves. Bring magic down to earth by creating beautiful masterpieces of our highest Selves – the extensions of our souls.

Are you ready to unlock your own creative genius?

It’s time to let the magic begin…

~ Creativity: Do you have to be an artist? ~

If you’re looking for a definition of the term “creativity”, the dictionary says “the use of imagination or original ideas to create something”. It can be used synonymously with the word “inventiveness”.

You may have heard that artists, like musicians or painters, tap into a state of flow while working. When “in the flow”, they feel super connected to higher sources of ideas. Whatever they write, paint, create – it literally flows through them. You could even say they’re channeling those ideas. As a society, we’ve distinguished and labelled ourselves as being either a creative or a non-creative person. You’ve probably heard many people say “I don’t have a creative bone in my body” – or even said it yourself? Maybe you’ve had an experience in childhood, in school or with your parents, where you’ve created something and the other person’s feedback was disappointing. Maybe you’ve put your entire heart and love into a drawing or a handcraft and your teacher, friend or parents said something like “Nice, but you’re not born to be an artist….” – with a depreciating smile on their face.

“Art is not a thing — it is a way.”
(Elbert Hubbard)

Because we grew up in a society where career, money, performance and perfectionism are very high valued, it can be challenging to let go of certain expectations. Because we were strongly conditioned to equal time with money, we neglect our playful creative side. According to the motto: If I cannot succeed financially with this, why making even time for it? – Does this sound familiar to you?

Well, what if I told you that creativity and art is not just a profession and career path. But it’s rather an ability that every single human being is innately born with. An expression of the (divine) feminine energy that is within each and every one of us, no matter what gender. It is an energy force – life itself – that wants to be birthed by and merely flow through you in order to inspire, serve, guide, help, and connect.

Your creativity is an infinite source of ideas, messages, and ways how you can express yourself. It is not limited to a drawing practice or to making music. The way you move, the way you dress yourself, prepare your breakfast, the words you use, how you decorate your home, write a letter to a friend etc. – Every single act that you’re bringing into this world is a creative act, because you deliver it in a way which hasn’t been here before. Your unique beauty hasn’t been here before in this shape and form.

~ Unleash your creative genius: A process of unlearning ~

Tapping into your creativity requires letting go of the rational mind. It asks you to connect with your inner world. You surely can become inspired by the outside world, without being judgmental. But the spark of creativity gets ignited inside yourself. It happens when you’re deeply connected with your intuition, with your Highest Self which is aligned with the divine. When you give yourself permission to surrender to the messages that want to flow through you, you’ll then enter the flow state. Then, you’re becoming a vessel, a conduit for the divine which starts becoming in total alignment with yourself. Expressing the non-physical in the physical world.

“Create what you came here to create.
All creative dreams need a human channel to bring them down to earth.
And that human channel is YOU.”
(Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy, SART)

As you may already assume, creativity is not something you have to learn. It is a totally natural part of yourself. However, we are so strongly conditioned to focus on learning, studying, taking in information from someone else. Thus, being creative can rather be a process of unlearning. Otherwise, the mind will always start commenting and judging if you attempt to connect with the artful wisdom inside yourself. So, just like any other way of introspection, expressing your creativity can become a beautiful spiritual practice.

“Art is a spiritual transaction.”
(Julia Cameron)

A huge driving force of your creativity is curiosity. Playful curiosity. Just like a child plays with its curiosity. In contrast to being judgmental, having expectations, and working from the mind, creativity comes from beyond the (rational) mind.

Some ways that help you kindle the creative force inside are the following practices:

  • Create a collage or a vision board. Bring everything you’re passionate about, you’re planning to do or just your most favorite pictures on a board or piece of paper.
  • Start scribbling, scratching or painting a mandala while listening to inspiring music.
  • Create a self-portrait, either by placing the mirror in front of you or with a reference photo.
  • Put on music, close your eyes, and feel into your body. How does it want to be moved right now? Allow yourself to let go of the mind and act out those intuitive movements.
  • Take your grocery list and come up with a story using the words from the list.
  • Stream of consciousness writing: Sit down with a pen and notebook and start writing whatever is on your mind. This practice is most effective in the morning, just upon waking. At that time, the veil between the conscious and the subconscious mind is very thin. You’ll be surprised by how much will come up from the depth of your consciousness – if you allow it to.

A big obstacle for us can be the fear of the unknown. Because creating something that hasn’t been here before requires our willingness to move out of our comfort zone and connect with the unknown. To let go of the mind and surrender to the heart.

~ Create your Self ~

Creativity means to become intimate with the divinity within, with your divine power. Just as you were created by the divine, so are you able to create. Because this life force energy that created you is not separate from you. It dwells within. It is what keeps you alive.

“I looked in temples, churches and mosques.
But I found the Divine within my heart.”
(Rumi)

Creating means to unify the non-visible and the visible. The non-physical and the physical. It is the union of human beings and the divine. If you look into nature, you will see this process happening on a momentary basis. Every moment, something new is created that has not been before here. At the same time, something else is passing away in order to close the cycle.

Dear one, you are a unique creature that has come here on earth with a specific gift. A mission. A purpose. Especially when you’re here, reading these lines in this very moment. Right? Can you feel it? – Whatever your beautiful gift for this world looks like. It is your unique creative expression that has never existed ever before. Something that enriches the world.

The process of creating yourself is not about searching, reaching for or achieving something you may identify with. It is much more a process of discovering what is already there. What has always been there. Inside yourself. Something that might have been forgotten.

With this message, I invite and encourage you to take some time and tap into your heart. Our world is currently seeking for the rise in yin energy. The flow of playfulness. For (human) beings who approach this world from their heart space. Feeling and embracing the oneness of our consciousness. A wonderful tool of supporting the upcoming shift is to take some time, to tune into and express your creative genius. So, we can create the yin-yang balance on earth – together. It all starts with you. And me.

How do you choose to experience yourself in 2021?

What is it that wants to be birthed through you this upcoming year?

There’s this soft, subtle, yet super powerful voice inside your heart … It is already guiding you towards the most authentic version of yourself. Towards your truth. Your heart’s truth. Can you hear it? Do you choose to follow it?

Sending you lots of love & a big hug, beautiful divine creature!

Namasté,

yours Isabel!
